I cannot believe we are already at the end of April. April is one of my favorite months. (Those of you that know me personally know that I'm the type of person that every month is my favorite) April has the best Louisiana weather, flowers are blooming everywhere, and I just love the Easter season.
Let me just start off by telling you: I. Love. Easter. I love Easter Sunday and all the festivities that lead up to it. From the Easter baskets, to dying and hiding eggs, to Easter service, all the way up to the grand finale of the season (or should I say beginning of new life) when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! I LOVE ALL OF IT!
The past Easter's have been a little of a struggle. Jude has been sick for EVERY SINGLE EASTER... until this year. He and Aubrey Lane were perfectly healthy for Easter. YAY!!
We dyed eggs Friday night and made snacks for Saturday. Just like I'm the girl that has to have a real Christmas tree, I love real dyed eggs the best.
Then Saturday morning Peter Cottontail paid Jude and Aubrey Lane a visit. We decided we would invite Peter on Saturdays to keep Jesus the focus of Sunday. Not a right or wrong decision, just a personal one.
Please excuse the laundry in the background... Peter Cottontail had a couple of loads to fold before the kiddos woke up.
Then we dressed in our Easter outfits and headed up front for a Easter Party at my in-laws house. We started out the day by every family taking pictures since we were all dressed so nice.
I just love them leaning into each other in this picture.
I have now realized that with two kids, it's an accomplishment to get everyone looking in the same general direction much less the camera.
We even got a few great photos with grandparents and all the men in the family. We all married brothers so every man in the family bears the family name, and there are four generations of them.
The day was full of picture taking, Easter egg hunts, eating and eating, and lots of fun outdoor activities. It was a GREAT day.
Sunday was wonderful too. We started the day with Early morning church service. It was beautiful. I got chills and tears as the choir sang "Let the Veil Down".
Then we headed to my family Easter which was also good. But I have no pictures from that day. After Saturday ended, I loaded all of my pictures onto my computer so I would have a empty memory card for Sunday. So Sunday, I pull out my camera to take pictures and guess what? My memory card was still in my computer. So I used my mom's camera and I don't have those pictures.
It was probably one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. But the most precious part is why we celebrate that weekend: Jesus is RISEN! Because of what happened 2000 years ago, we can pray whenever we need to, we walk in forgiveness, and WE SERVE A LIVING GOD!
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
1 Peter 1:3
Sorry this post is late, but better late than never, right?
Beautiful pictures! What a precious family!
